Istanbul's most venerable jazz venue was recently renovated. Enjoying a prime location right next to the upper Tünel station, it's a café by day, overlooking the small square. Gramofon has a reputation as a classy place to hang out and drink while listening to live jazz five nights a week. It's intimate, which means that mostly small local outfits perform, but the crowd is usually appreciative and the atmosphere is especially lively on weekends. The menu is French-influenced.
