Where To Stay

Rahula Lodge. Or, be spoilt at the Pasmore Cottage, O'Connor, for a fraction of the cost of a hotel.

You will find a great range of hotels and motels of all standards in the inner suburbs of Lyneham and Braddon where the Barton Highway from Melbourne joins the Federal Highway from Sydney. There are some excellent restaurants nearby, with the city's attractions only five minutes away. The Dickson Premier Inn is on the doorstep of nearby Chinatown.

The new Belconnen Premier Inn and Jamison Motel are minutes from Bruce Stadium and the prestigious Australian Institute of Sport. On the outskirts of Canberra, as you enter from the Federal Highway, you will come across the wonderfully equipped Rydges Resort at Sutton.

For something very different, try bed and breakfast in the historic village of Hall, at either the Surveyor's Hill Winery or on a converted tram or train at Last Stop, Ambledown Brook.

South Canberra

To the south of Canberra in the vibrant inner suburbs of Kingston and Manuka, you will find many serviced apartments, such as Medina Classic and Kingston Terrace, which are often used by government departments and private companies for business trips or as temporary housing for new employees. Both offer excellent facilities and are close to some of the best dining experiences in Canberra. Less expensive options include Crestwood Apartments in Narrabundah and Forest Inn close to the diplomatic centre of Canberra.

Further south, close to the attractions of Tharwa, Tidbinbilla and Namadgi National Park, try the aptly named Country Comfort Greenway. Bed and Breakfast is available at Birch Corner in Curtin to the south west of Canberra. If you are traveling with pets, Home Stay Bed and Breakfast also in Curtin will welcome your dog.

Camping and Caravan Parks

Get close to nature at one of the area's many camping areas. Try Woods Reserve, Blue Range, Laurel Camp, Cotter River, Mt Stromlo's Blue Gum or Namadgi National Park. For caravan parks, check out the Canberra Carotel Motel & Caravan Park on the Federal Highway in Watson or any of the other parks around Sutton and Symonston. Many caravan parks in the region offer villa accommodation.

Out of Canberra

Queanbeyan, only 15 minutes from the city, is the queen of budget accommodation. Other towns out of Canberra offer a different experience. For a romantic weekend away, try the Carrington at Bungendore or bed and breakfast ventures in the historic villages of Braidwood and Murrumbateman.

Whatever your taste in accommodation, it is only a choice away. Once you have made that choice, just enjoy it!
